K.I.L.U.S. + disposed doy packs = Eco-friendly bags


Local fashion accessories are now going green! The KILUS Foundation from Barangay Ugong in Pasig collects discarded juice doy packs and creates woven bags out of them. This is just one part of a livelihood project with support from the Ugong Barangay Council and from TESDA. Using waste materials for the creation of new products, and providing livelihood income to a community, they are making their contribution to environmental preservation by eliminating non-biodegradable waste from the waste stream.

The woven bags are suprisingly attractive and sturdy. I personally like the silver (reversed doy pack) version, shown here.

KILUS products are available for sale at various bazaars and at Tiendesitas.

The KILUS Multipurpose Environmental Cooperative also buys discarded doy packs. So start collecting them, and send them over to:
